What do New Dawn Care Assistants do?

A really fulfilling job.

Care is about getting to know our clients in their own homes, their likes/dislikes, engaging in their past life and experiences and from this knowledge developing a rapport so you'll notice small changes and can adapt support. It’s also about maintaining dignity and respect and:

  • lending a helping hand, whether that's within their home or to get out for a walk, shopping etc
  • Helping with personal care such as showering and dressing
  • Assisting people with eating and drinking
  • Helping with medication

What experience and qualifications do I need?

A full driving licence and use of a reliable car are essential to earn our top rate of pay.

However, you don't need care qualifications or previous experience.

What you do need is to be kind, compassionate and thoughtful with the passion to make a positive difference in people's lives. You must also be reliable, someone your colleagues and clients can depend on.

What does New Dawn Offer me – in excess of £18k pa for 25 hours of care 

  • Competitive pay rates – £14.00/hr for care hours, subject to*:
    • completion of Induction programme (4-12 weeks depending on experience)
    • being a car driver
    • working our Core Hours, i.e: ‘working every other weekend + at least two 7am starts + two 10pm finishes over a 2-week rota
    • and flexibility to work in Church Stretton, Craven Arms and surrounding areas
  • paid travel time & mileage between home and first/last calls as well as between calls
  • We also offer:
    a ‘welcome bonus’ of £175 after 3 months + £225 at 9 months (pro-rata to hours worked); job security, up to 5 weeks paid annual leave plus statutory holidays (pay is at premium rate if worked + a paid day off); bonus and ‘refer a friend’ schemes; free uniforms & DBS checks (subject to in-house rules); plus the prospect of career progression. We also provide wellbeing support.

We sometimes have capacity for walkers; we also work with Shropshire Community Resource (Wheels to Work) -if you can get into CS or CA we may be able to arrange a car share.
