Working to keep people in their own homes

Through reliable, quality services, we have become one of the most respected home/domiciliary care providers in our area.

Our staff are friendly and professional; and provide care for both Private and Funded clients. The support we offer includes – personal care, meal preparation, companionship, assistance going out e.g for appointments, or a walk; and medication management.

New Dawn Care Agency are:

SAFE

We are committed to taking all reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of all service users. Our staff are carefully chosen, vetted and fully trained. All are directly employed; we never use agency staff. We recognise and discuss any risks and put measures in place to mitigate harm.

Taking all reasonable steps to ensure the health and safety of our care team is of equal importance to us.

During the ongoing pandemic, Covid-19 related risk assessments for all carers and clients identify their specific risk factors and enable us to react immediately to potential issues/risks. Following government guidelines, we regularly communicate changes and this has been appreciated by both clients and carers. Read our full Covid statement.

CARING

Care is about getting to know the client, their likes/dislikes, engaging in their past life and experiences and from this knowledge developing a rapport that enables recognition of small changes, so you can adapt support. We produce care plans through discussion; and our team then support in the ways agreed and set out in the plan. Our carers show kindness and compassion while respecting dignity and choice.

Our last CQC Inspector wrote in their report ‘it was evident that (the carers) consider their role as a vocation rather than a job and this was refreshing to see’.

RESPONSIVE

Care plans are reviewed within the first two to three weeks to ensure they are meeting initial needs.

Care needs change over time; and as carers get to know each individual and their routines; they are encouraged to report in if a review or change is required. We initiate regular reviews with clients, to ensure our services are still current and effective. We pride ourselves on our responsiveness to clients’ changing needs.

EFFECTIVE

As a new client you would be asked what you want to achieve and how we can support you to achieve these goals. We are happy to work ourselves out of a job … if we can enable full independence to be regained.

All our staff receive a high level of training which exceeds the legal requirements with 90% of staff at NVQ 2 or higher.

We actively encourage employees to come up with ideas, especially when it comes to Care plans and enhancing clients’ quality of life; including ways to make food/meals tempting to them.  Colleagues work closely, happily respond to each other’s queries and aim to update next carer ahead of their call, especially where a client’s needs have changed.

WELL-LED

The management team meet regularly. Our audit procedures are kept under review. We encourage feedback, whether it is positive or negative, so we can learn from what we do well and where we make mistakes.

Our aim is to make a positive difference to the quality of life for every individual we support; as well as for our staff to enjoy their work and feel well supported by their management team. Management encourage and, by example, lead a supportive culture.

We pride ourselves on strong local relationships including with doctors, social workers, Mayfair centre; and we participate in Registered Manager forums, sharing best practice and learning from others.

HOURS

We are available 7 days a week from 7am to 10pm; with office hours of 9am to 5pm Monday-Friday; and an out-of-hours answering facility for emergencies.
