Several people have moved into our development as a result of children looking to bring their parents closer to home, or looking for a safe and secure environment in which they can be re-assured that their parents will get the care they need.
New Dawn Care are unique in that we have built properties for sale with no buy-back clauses and all that sets our properties apart from traditional housing is that purchasers must be over 50 years of age or need adult care. Our environment can help protect assets, in so far as you only pay for care as and when you need it as distinct from paying for 24 hour care you don’t always receive.
Currently on site we have residents ranging in age from 18 to 92 years. Within the village a healthy social life has developed with some of the residents organising at least one social event per month. These have ranged from a train trip from Craven Arms to Swansea to Christmas meals and a Robbie Burns night including bag pipes.
No-one is expected to participate; there is just an open invitation. For many people growing old can lead to isolation, loneliness and insecurity but within the village there is freedom of choice to join in or not. For example a group are collected by bus on Monday and taken to Church Stretton swimming. Within a 7 mile radius taking in Ludlow and Church Stretton there are many clubs and societies to join and all the services of Doctors, Dentists and a cottage hospital.
New Dawn Care can offer practical support from shopping, mowing the lawns, cleaning and even preparing meals on a pay as you go basis. Within reason we will accept flexible arrangements. For the more independent resident we offer a daily 15 minute well-being call. During this time we can check that everything is in order, make up beds, empty bins and if extra support is needed we can arrange this at the same time.
Many of the village residents have taken care or support on an ad-hoc basis and feel comfortable with the knowledge that staff are available at short notice on a 24 hour basis.
