About Us

New Dawn Care Ltd was formed in November 2003 by George Bowness (the former chief executive of the largest residential care provider in Shropshire). Following many discussions with various departments in Shropshire Council and the District Councils it became apparent that there was a need for additional care provision for older people which would embrace nursing, dementia care, spinal injuries and residential care in South Shropshire.

A land agent was employed to find suitable sites and of the 3 proposed, New Dawn Care settled on the land now known as Roman Downs on the outskirts of Craven Arms. The land was chosen because it afforded great views over the surrounding countryside yet was still within walking distance of the local town.

Under our ethos of ‘maintaining independence’ and only paying for care as you need it, our village was designed and developed. We have 37 individual properties and are in the process of building the Care Centre which will provide 45 dual registered nursing and residential care beds but with a twist. George and Kim

George Bowness (Chief Executive) has spent most of his working life in various manufacturing industries, moving from the shop floor to senior management in human resources before gaining experience in care during his three year tenure in the care sector. As the driving force behind the business George has secured the necessary funding to date for the development and is finalising the final instalments due to complete the Care Centre.

Kim Pilkington (Finance Director) joined the company in January 2004 following three years working in the finance department of a care company. She has spent most of her working life in various service sectors but since joining New Dawn Care has been involved in all aspects of the business from obtaining planning permission, working with the developers, furnishing and selling properties, obtaining competitive tenders for contracts and managing the business finances.

Carol Jones (Operations Manager) joined New Dawn Care in May 2006. She has over 30 years experience in the care sector encompassing both health and social care services and her previous position was running a care village in Telford. As manager of the Village Care Agency Carol is responsible for developing and expanding this business and has recently doubled the hours of care we provide and is recruiting and training new staff.
